One Nation, Under God
The Malta Mustangs took second place at the Scottie Qualifiers meet in Glasgow on Monday, April 18. Malta's 78 points was second to Glasgow who scored 120. Plentywood had 46 points and took third. Wolf Point was fourth with 44 and Poplar took fifth with 37.
Dominic Judd led Malta taking first place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.25. Judd also took second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.42 which is his best time this season.
"I'm doing okay," Judd told the PCN. "Not as good as I want but I'm doing well, I guess."
Judd is a new transfer student from Maine and was a state champion hurdler last season. He is also a former soccer player from his former school, Caribou High School. Since Malta has no soccer team Judd admits he isn't at his peak potential.
"Last year I was in much better shape," Judd said. "My times are faster in the beginning of this year than they were last year so I'm cutting a lot of time down, which is good."
He admitted that being at a new school was quite an adjustment.
It's been really nerve-racking because you don't know anyone and you don't have any friends but now that I've been here for almost a year, I've found some pretty awesome friends that have supported me and helped me through this new year," Judd said. "It's pretty sick."
Senior Tyson Carney posted a new best in javelin after posting a throw of 167-6.

Raybon also took fifth place in the triple jump after posting a length of 37-2. He also took seventh in the long jump leaving a mark of 16-10.
Williamson had a strong meet individually taking third in the 100 with a time of 12.46, third in the high jump after clearing 5-6 and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 18-1 ½.
Junior Jace Bishop took fourth in javelin with a throw of 156-4. Bishop also took fourth in high jump after clearing 5-4. He took sixth place in triple jump after posting a new best of 36-7.
Freshman Kolter Schipman has been a solid competitor in the 800 and that continued in Glasgow as he took fourth with a time of 2:20.44.
Jase Galt took fifth place in the 200 after posting a time of 25.88 a new personal best. Galt also posted a new best in the 100 with a time of 12.89.
“It’s going pretty good,” Galt said. “The strides on the right leg still aren’t as long as they are on the left leg but I think they’re getting there and I’ve gotten faster in the second meet than I was in the first so it’s looking good.”
Malta also hosted its annual Malta Athletic Club Invitational last Tuesday, April 26. The results of the Malta invitational will be listed in next week’s PCN.
