Auxiliary awards Certificates of Appreciation

Last week VFW Auxiliary President Cheryl Wallace made visits to two local businesses to present certificates of appreciation. The certificates were presented to Kayla and David Elkins of Hardware Hank and Jerry Salveson at Jerry's Barber Shop in recognition and thanks for their participation in the Green Light To Bring Our Troops Home project.

The project was the brilliant idea of local American Legion auxiliary member, Marda Southwick, who, once the project was announced nationwide took the idea one step further and ordered a case of the green light bulbs that were displayed in November as a nationwide effort to bring awareness of the need to bring each troop home safely to family. The lightbulbs were donated to local individuals. Hardware Hank also jumped on the concept and continues to display two green lights in honor of the servicemen and servicewomen who have yet to come home.

Kayla shared that when November had come and gone she inquired of David about the month of awareness being over and stated that he said until every soldier is home, we will keep the green light on.
