One Nation, Under God
Input is being sought from the public about the Little Rockies Travel Management Plan. The Bureau of Land Management Malta Field Office will hold a Public Meeting 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, in the First State Bank Community Room at 1 S 1st Street E., Malta. The meeting will start the 30-day scoping period.
The BLM is looking for input on motorized vehicle, off-highway vehicle, snowmobile and non-motorized transportation uses on public lands in the Little Rockies Travel Management Planning Area of Phillips County.
A variety of BLM specialists will be at the meeting to answer questions and receive comments. Maps of the current management plan and the range of potential alternatives (from strict resource conservation to broad access) will be available at the public meeting. These maps are also available on the BLM ePlanning NEPA Register website under DOI-BLM-MT-M010-2016-0009-EA Little Rockies Travel Management Plan at https://eplanning.blm.gov/epl-front-office/eplanning/nepa/nepa_register.do
The purpose of site-specific travel planning is to develop management that will: meet public and administrative access needs; provide for recreation experiences; minimize user conflicts and natural resource impacts associated with roads and trails; and be financially affordable to maintain.
The BLM expects to make an environmental assessment of the travel management alternatives available for comment by January 2017. The BLM intends to complete the decision process and travel management plan in the spring of 2017.
