One Nation, Under God

Loring News for March 2, 2016

Oh my, it’s Leap Year! Hopefully all the single fellas know about the tradition that a young lady can ask the guy to marry her on Leap Year.

Last week I noted that my sister’s grandson went to school at Trinity Lutheran in Billings. I got reminded that one of our own Loringites got her first education at the Trinity Lutheran. When it first opened Debbie Dyrdahl was in the first grade and continued on until eighth grade when she was a cheerleader for the basketball team. She said it was a few years ago!

North Country Lady Mavericks were in the divisional tourney in Wolf Point this past weekend. They took fourth. Dixie Stordahl traveled over with Rana Jesson, Matt and Heather Trace, Beau Simonson, Layne Engel and Nancy Olsen on Thursday. That game was a nail biter but we came out on top in the last second! Congratulations to the team on a fine season!

The grass is very dry this year. A controlled burn got away and burned quite a patch south of Loring. The main problem was it caught everyone by surprise and no one had their water tenders full. It was extinguished before too much damage was done.

Happy 40th Anniversary to Debbie and Leroy Dyrdahl!

Happy 99th birthday to Earl Wasson! I stopped by to wish him a happy day and saw Linda Hoover, Alan and Connie Wasson and Kent and Reene Wasson, Kyle and Kelly Wasson family, TJ and Char and girls, Nicole and Kent Wood and family were also wishing him a happy birthday. It was nice to see so many neighbors!

While at the HLRC I visited Barbara Cowan and Dorothy Johnson. They are both doing well also. Dorothy had a gift for me from Larry Ochsner of Glasgow. He left a metal sculptor of a Penguin with an engraved tag to The Ultimate Penguin, Dixie Stordahl with the dates I went to school at WHS and when I started teaching there. Thank you, Larry and LeAnn!

Lots of geese are flying over these days. The temps were close to 60 degrees many days this week. Must be close to spring, but I’m not putting my winter coat away just yet! Montana weather is devious!
