Rodent Control Workshop on Feb. 23 at PC Library

The Phillips County Extension Office in coordination with the Montana Department of Agriculture will be holding a rodent control workshop at the Phillips County Library on February 23, at 1 pm. The workshop will be worth 3 private pesticide points. The program will include control of pocket gophers and ground squirrels presented by Stephen M. Vantassel, Vertebrate Pest Specialist with the Department.

Vantassel has held the position of Vertebrate Pest Specialist for the Montana Department of Agriculture since May 2015. He has over 20 years of experience in the wildlife control industry in private, academic, and government roles. He founded and ran Wildlife Removal Service, Inc. (sold in 1998) and was the Program Coordinator for the Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management (ICWDM.org) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2004-2014). He has published scores of articles and several books on various aspects of wildlife damage management, including The Wildlife Damage Inspection Handbook, 3rd ed. and has been a leader in training others in the technical elements of wildlife control.

Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment and understanding the label will also be covered. Commercial points have been asked for. If you have questions, please call the Extension Office at 654-2543.
