The North Country Lady Mavericks are heating up after picking up a couple of wins against district foes Nashua and Frazer last week. The team has a tough game against Scobey in Scobey on Friday night at 6 p.m.
If the Lady Mavericks (8-0 in conference) can pick up a win against Scobey, the team will likely lock up the conference.
In the team's 82-53 win against Frazer last Friday night, Mickayla Johnson a strong 27 point, 22 rebound double-double. Jada Sudbrack had 22 points and eight rebounds.
Kayleigh Cummings also had a double-double, posting 13 points and 10 rebounds. Moore had a double-double as well scoring 10 points and racking up 10 assists.
Bailey Funk and Casity Boucher had five points each.
North Country had 66 rebounds, 23 second chance points and shot 50.7 percent (33 of 65) from the field.
In their 49-18 win against Nashua last Saturday in Saco, the team was led by Jada Sudbrack who had 19 points and seven rebounds.
Moore had 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and a block. Johnson had seven points, eight rebounds and four steals. Funk had five points, four rebounds and two steals. Boucher had three points and two steals. Cummings had two points and two rebounds.
Against Nashua, the Lady Mavericks had 37 rebounds, 18 points off of turnovers and 26 points in the paint.
North Country's defense was dominant keeping Nashua within ten points in each of the four quarters.
They outscored Nashua 18 to 4 in the first quarter, then 11 to 2 in the second quarter. The halftime score was 29-6.
The Lady Mavericks displayed their strongest offensive output of the game in the third quarter, scoring 20 points, while holding Nashua to four points. The end of the third quarter score was 49-10. Nashua was the only team to score in the fourth quarter, putting up eight points. The final score was 49-18.
