One Nation, Under God
The Lady Mavericks added to their win column after defeating the Lustre Christian Lady Lions in Lustre last Friday night. The score was 54-26. The team will have a game against Dodson tomorrow night in Dodson at 6 p.m. They will them take on Glasgow in Saco at 6 p.m. on Friday night and then travel to Winifred-Roy to face the Outlaws, who defeated them earlier this season.
"We didn't play with as much intensity defensively and we weren't as aggressive offensively as we've been in a lot of the games we've played better in this year," Coach Amber Erickson told the PCN. "Against Winifred-Roy we have to be ready to play hard for four quarters because they are the type of team that will do that regardless. They're going to hustle and play hard."
The Lady Mavericks were coming off of a couple of weekends with three games the last time these teams met. This time around, North Country will be a little more rested and ready to go.
In the team's victory against Lustre, Tatum Moore led with 22 points. Mickayla Johnson posted a 13 point, 15 rebound double-double.
Jada Sudbrack had 13 points. Kayleigh Cummings had two points and five rebounds. Casity Boucher and Payton Chopper each had two points. Bailey Funk and Boucher had five rebounds each.
The Mavericks haven't thrived in the half-court press as they have in previous seasons, yet their defense has been just as impressive.
"We've been playing a lot of zone defense but we've been trying to work on our man as well, so we have that as well if teams break down our zone," Coach Erickson said noting they played man three quarters of the game.
