Local News
The Lovejoy state made a record this week. As Christmas comes on the regular stage day, the mail was taken out one day earlier than usual.
One of the best known bachelors was called upon the past week to escort a young lady to her home in the south part of the city. It was a "Long Way to Tipperary," but the old scout was game, nevertheless, and came back smiling.
The Christmas rush has invaded the local cigar factory and Russell Brothers have been kept busy night and day the past week to fill the large number of orders for their popular LaZola cigar.
The No. 2, the Great Northern's east bound Oriental Limited, has been late so many times the past few weeks that Malta people have forgotten what time it should really arrive here. It plays havoc with the mail from the west and Helena papers get here now only occasionally.
The merchants of Malta have enjoyed the best Christmas trade in the history of the town. The bumper crops this year have put everyone in pretty good circumstances. Most of the stores are almost sold out of the entire line of holiday goods.
One of the young homesteaders of this section, who has been spending a few months in the east, was the happiest boy on earth this week when he got back to Montana. He made the remark from now on it would have to be something very powerful that would ever draw him away from the Treasure State again.

Christmas Poems
What Christmas means to me. What Christmas means to me is the star above the manger with Jesus in it. I am glad it is almost Jesus' birthday. Mary is his mom. Joseph is his Dad. Jesus is the one I always think about at Christmas.
Elizabeth Anderson
Christmas means loving, caring, sharing. I like to bake cookies and hang stockings on the chimney.
Randi Plouffe.
What Christmas means to me...Christmas means a lot to me. It is the time of year when Santa comes to little and big girls and boys houses. And you hang lights on your house. And you can put a Christmas tree in your house. And it means that was the day Christ was born.

Letters to Santa, 2005
Dear Santa,
I would like an X-Box with the game Red Dead Revolover. I would like you to give my niece some Eagles clothes to wear. How are you and Mrs. Claus doing? Please get my dad the movie the Longest Yard. For my mom, I would like to get her a message from Michelle. I would for Kyle to get a Green Bay Helmet for Christmas.
Sincerely,
Quintan Boos, second grade
Dear Santa,
Please bring me a CD game. Can you bring my little brother some cars? Does your sleigh have engine troubles?
Merry Christmas,
Your friend, D'Andre Haag, Third Grade
Dear Santa,
I want my little pony and a remote control car and a bouncy ball and a Barbie Jeep for Christmas. I am seven years old. I am a good girl. I listen to my mom and my teacher.
Love, Tatum Moore, second grade
Dear Santa,
I have been very good. How have you been? I would like some Star Wars Legos. And I would like a Spider Man shooting web. And I would like a Jake Plummer or Rod Smith shirt and a Denver hat.
Love, Hailey Nicholson, second grade
