Our new school building
During the Thanksgiving vacation week the furnishings of the Malta Public School were all moved from the old to the handsome new building in southwest Malta and when school called Monday morning, everything was in its place at the new location.
The new building, which has been erected this summer and by fall the well-known firm of Montgomery & Son, is a model of its kind and without a doubt the finest school building in this section of northern Montana. The contract was for $24,000 and all of the work has been done by local people as far as possible.
Moral reform sweeps over City of Malta
Tuesday night Sherriff Shaw, Justice Wilson, County Attorney Wolfe and Under Sherriff Nelson started to clean out the restricted district with the result that all the houses are closed and those comping around in various places were ordered out of town, and it is needless to say they have gone where the fields are a little greener. A big fight pulled off in one of the houses in the restricted district Monday night in which two of the prominent business men of the place were the participants, resulted in the reform movement.

Church chimes dedicated next Sunday
Carillon chimes, which were recently installed in the belfry of the Malta Lutheran Church, will be dedicated at the 11 o'clock service, according to an announcement by Rev. Thos. Boe, pastor. The choir will sing special numbers.
The chimes have been given to Malta Lutheran Church by the following donors:
Ingolf Hagen, in memory of his mother; Andrew Ware, in memory of his mother; Carl Sherdahl, in memory of his sons, Nels and Morton; Fred Robinson, in memory of Mrs. Robinson's father, Jens Skorpen.
The music of the bells can be heard throughout the city and represent something unique among churches in northern Montana. Severin Larson did the carpentry work in adapting the belfry for the chimes. Ted Ostberg and Irving Tjomsland were responsible for the installation.

Trafton-Dorr Company closing after 80 years in business
"We are closing out of business" H.L. Door of Trafton-Dorr Company made that statement last week.
Such an announcement is more or less routine in business circles, and to the people in Phillips County in this particular instance, it comes as no shock. It means that the oldest business establishment in the county and one of the oldest in this part of Montana is closing its doors. Probably those doors have never been closed on a business day since the mercantile store was opened as a trading post 80 years ago.
The history of Trafton-Dorr Company goes back to 1886 when Robert M. Trafton and a party of Chippewa Indians and half-bloods started west from Minot, N.D., along the route of the proposed railway being built by Jim Hill.
