Mustangs win Northern Montana Class B Title

The Blue and White Mustangs, which refused to be tamed, sun-fished and bucked effectively in a California system playoff at South Side Field last Friday afternoon to throw a stubborn Browning Indian and win the Northern B Class B Championship by an 8 to 6 score before the largest crowd to ever watch a football game here.

At the end of the regulation period of the play the score stood with a touchdown from each team...the Blue and White provided a thriller for the hysterical cheering fans when Co-Captain Jack Young unleashed a long, high pass to Lyman Trottier who snagged the ball on the Browning 46 and ran to the 38 where he was downed. In the series of downs on a 15-yard penalty, served to push the leather deeper into Indian ground and Malta Successfully knocked down four passes while advancing the pigskin on line smashes. Boon Ochitani grounded the ball for Malta on the Indian 9 to give M.H.S. the title, having penetrated farther into their opponent's field of play than Browning in its five tries.

Residents of disorderly house ordered to leave the county

Three residents of an establishment five miles west of Malta on Highway 2 have been fined and ordered to move along by Justice of the Peace Norman Storbeck. The downfall of the three persons, women between the age of 23 and 30, evidently was that their home was also their house.

The establishment, formerly known as Kay's Café, was raided about 10 p.m. Monday evening by County Attorney Willis McKeon, Sheriff Norman Nybo and Undersheriff Dick McNamara. McKeon stated that the only persons in the building at the time of were a truck driver from North Dakota and the three women. At the time of the raid, the trucker was dancing with one of the women and the "juke" box was playing.

Tuesday morning, shortly before noon, they were brought before JOP Storbeck ...and were charged with residing in a house of ill fame, a misdemeanor.

Mini-baby boom hits trailer park, hospital

The Hi-Line Trailer Park has been experiencing a baby boom this week and, as a result, things have been booming at the Phillips County Hospital.

Malta's three newest residents were all born at the local hospital, some by plan, some by circumstance, and all have parents who live at the trailer park.

The mini-baby boom began on Nov. 7 at about 6:33 a.m. when Samantha Wiese made her entry into the world. It continued on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7:23 a.m. when Lacie Abrahamson made her debut. And it concluded, as far as we know, on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 5:06 a.m. when an as yet to be named baby boy was born.
