Mustangs crush Wildcats 72-6

Malta travels to Glasgow Friday to attempt 2B sweep

The 6-1 Malta Mustangs will face one last regular season test as they have locked up a spot in the 2015 State B Tournament bracket. The team will travel to Glasgow this Friday to take on the 3-5 Glasgow Scotties, who are also undefeated against 2B teams. The winner of the game will win the district and have a favorable placing in the State B tournament bracket.

Malta has no plans of underestimating the Scotties, to whom Malta has lost to in their last two meetings. The Mustangs' toughest challenge will be containing All-Conference running back Benji Phillips.

"He runs hard and has tremendous speed. We need to do a good job of containing him in order to have success," Coach Oxarart said. "They have had one of the toughest non-conference schedules in Class B. They've played Baker, Fairfield, Big Timber, Colstrip and Class A Glendive. They've gained valuable experience playing those teams and their record is not indicative of how good they really are."

The Mustangs hope to extend their six game winning streak, but know it will take plenty of effort, that started last week after defeating Harlem last Wednesday.

"We need to have a good week of practice and get ready to battle Friday night in Glasgow," Coach Oxarart said. The District 2B title is up for grabs and that's pretty exciting for us."

In last Wednesday's 72-6 drubbing of the Harlem Wildcats, the Mustangs displayed discipline on all phases.

"The key for our success against Harlem was playing fast and aggressive and try to stop any momentum they were trying to get," Coach Oxarart said. "The offense and defense came out aggressive and made some big plays early on to get the momentum on our side and
