Cecelia "Tootsie" LaFond

MALTA-Cecelia "Tootsie" LaFond, 89, our beloved mother, died Oct. 1, 2015 at the Hi-Line Retirement Center of natural causes.

Rosary will be 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel in Malta. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the chapel. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

Cecelia was the last of eight children born to Louie and Nolia Fortin of the Harb community on Dec. 19, 1925. At 5 ½ months old, her mother, Nolia, passed away and was then raised by Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson, also from the Harb community. She attended school in Malta and Great Falls.

Cecelia married John LaFond Jr. on July 10, 1944. They had two daughters, Donna and Cecelia Jean. She enjoyed dancing, cleaning, crocheting, playing cards and was very well known for her baking. She was so kind, thoughtful and a very genuine person. She will truly be missed.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, and five sisters; her husband John in 1999; Grandson John in 1971; Son-in-Law Anthony in 2015.

She is survived by her daughters; Donna (Don) Shannon; Cecelia Jean Oliveri; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
