One Nation, Under God
The North Country Mavericks defended the Whitewater High School gym with pride last Saturday as they smashed the Lustre Christian Lions in three sets. The scores were 25-18, 25-13 and 25-14.
The team was led in kills by Mickayla Johnson, who had eight of the team's 20.
Jada Sudbrack led in aces with eight. The team had 19 total.
Casity Boucher had three digs and Delaney Beil had 11 of the team's 12 assists.
The game served as Whitewater's first game in the schools newly redone gymnasium.
"Besides junior high, I don't think we've ever had volleyball on our floor," Senior Maverick hitter Tatum Moore told the PCN. "It was fun. It was different coming here and playing rather than in Saco and Hinsdale. It was weird seeing the green on the floor, instead of the black, orange or maroon.
Jada Sudbrack shared the sentiment.
"I liked it," she said.
Sudbrack has had the hot hand lately, leading the team in aces during three of their last four games. Her last ace of the night in Whitewater ended the game.
"I just practice," Sudbrack said.
Sudbrack is only a part of a team that is on the rise.
"I think we just bonded together and got to know each other a lot closer," Moore said.
