One Nation, Under God

Planned Giving Seminars offered next week in Malta

The Phillips County Community Foundation is bringing two great professional advisors to Malta to share their knowledge about “Planned Giving.”

Planned giving is a method of supporting charities that enables donors to make larger gifts than they could typically afford to make directly. Some planned gifts provide a life-long income to the donor, others use estate and tax planning techniques to provide for a charity and other heirs in ways that maximize the gift and/or minimize its impact on the donor’s estate. Planned gifts may produce significant tax savings and they often help a donor avoid or stretch out payment of capital gains taxes, earn federal and state income tax deductions, reduce the size of the donor’s estate, and if given to an established endowment fund, are eligible for the Montana Endowment Tax Credit.

Amy Sullivan is the Director of the Montana Office of Gift Planning and will share her expertise to help match your personal charitable and financial goals with the best giving solution. She can help create a custom charitable plan and assist in the preparation of charitable giving documents and forms. A native of rural Montana, Amy will share how planned gifts can help maintain local economies and agriculture lifestyles.

Curt Barnekoff is a Certified Public Accountant with WIPFLi, formerly known as Galusha, Higgins and Galusha. Curt resides in Havre but is is a familiar face in Malta working from the WIPFLi local office. His areas of expertise include estate, retirement and tax planning and he has an excellent understanding of how planned and charitable gifts fit into that mix.

The Planned Giving Seminar will be offered in two identical sessions, the first on Tuesday, September 29th at 7:00 PM with coffee and cookies provided in the Lodge Room of the Great Northern Hotel in Malta. The second session will be Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 AM, also in the Lodge Room with no host breakfast available. Each seminar is anticipated to be 1 full hour with questions and answers to follow.

A special announcement of 2015 PCCF Grant Program awardees (with total funding up to $10,000) will be made at the beginning of each session. All applicants are encouraged to attend.

Seminar sessions are free, open to the public and all are invited. For more information, contact any Phillips County Community Foundation board member or Anne Boothe at 654-1887 or email [email protected].
