Up to 32 could be laid off at mine this week by stay

Layoff notices will be issued to up a "maximum of 32 employees" of Zortman Mining Inc. and NA Degerstrom later this week as a result of a temporary stay issued Aug. 27 by the Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA).

The stay suspends BLM approval for expansion of the Landusky Mine near Zortman, which effectively puts a halt to continue construction of the so-called Sullivan pad needed by the company to continue mining operations after the conclusion of the current mining season.
