2015 PC Fair Carcass Results are in

The carcass results from the 2015 4-H and FFA livestock show at the Phillips County Fair are complete. Carcass results are eligible to be submitted to the Steer of Merit program, sponsored by the Montana Stockgrowers; Symbol of Excellence program, sponsored by the Montana Pork Producers Council; and Montana Certified Lamb program, sponsored by the Montana Wool Growers.

For meeting individual carcass requirements, youth winners and the breeders of their animals receive a certificate from the sponsoring livestock organizations, and 4-H trophies for first (Grand) and second (Reserve) place exhibitors in each species.

There was one steer out of 18 that qualified for Steer of Merit. The Grand Champion Market Beef Carcass was presented to Parker Mortenson. Parker raised is own steer. His trophy sponsor was Mike and Lorna Lang. The Reserve Champion Carcass was Trey Simanton with the trophy sponsor by Scott and Barb Waters. Trey's beef breeder was Doug and Ronda Simanton.

There were three market lamb out of six that qualified for Montana Certified Lamb. The Grand Champion Market Lamb Carcass belonged to Dylan Brown with his trophy sponsored by Independence Bank. Dylan's lamb breeder was Jeanie Green. The Reserve Champion Market Lamb Carcass trophy was awarded to Kora LaBrie and the trophy sponsor was Milk River Coop. Kora's breeder was Jeanie Green. The other youth whose lamb qualified for Montana Certified Lamb was Abby Yeska and her lamb breeder was Heidi Johnson.

Six youth qualified for the Symbol of Excellence swine carcass awards out of 45 swine. The Grand Champion Market Swine Carcass was awarded to Rhett Simanton with his trophy sponsor being Independence Bank. The swine breeder was East End Colony. The Reserve Champion Market Swine Carcass trophy was awarded to Elly Anderson and the trophy was sponsored by Phillips County Insurance. The swine breeder was also East End Colony. Other SOE certificate winners were; Payton Clausen with the breeder of the East End Colony, Tyler Arnold with a swine from East End Colony, Sam Mitchell from Hartland Colony and Aubri Werk with her swine from a breeder in Lewistown. Rhett Simanton is awarded the traveling trophy for the Grand Champion Overall Pork donated by the Mingneau family in memory of Jess and Diane Jones.
