Lady Mavericks hold first practice

Phillips and Valley Counties saw the first scholastic action of the season last Friday as the North Country Lady Mavericks Volleyball team hit the court for their first practice of the season.

The newly formed co-operative includes high school students from Saco, Hinsdale and Whitewater schools.

The Phillips County News caught up with players representing each school for opinions on their new team's mascot; their honest opinions.

"At first, I thought it was kind of stupid," said Jada Sudbrack, a sophomore from Saco. "But I'll get used to it."
