One Nation, Under God
After a long hard bought with Amoxicillin, I had a good week. After feeling super miserable for a week, I found joy in the little things life brings.
My first simple thing was my yard. Because of my inability to mow the lawn, the grass has gotten taller, which is great for these hot summer days. Everything is greening up and with less water!
My other victory came last week when Julio Salveson helped me remove a woodworking bench from my shop area. Many older guys are probably thinking why in the world would he do that?!?!
It’s simple. What once was a workshop for wood, will one day soon be my man cave.
That table must have weighed over 300 pounds… Or that could be because I’m slowly regaining my strength from being sick. Either way, Julio, thanks dood!
My second victory came when I fixed our dishwasher… There are a number of things that can go wrong with a dishwasher; luckily I found that it was the drainage pump. After about $40 dollars and thirty minutes it works like a brand-new second hand one.
No longer will I or Susan have to stand at the sink wondering if we will fall into the water. Dish washing went from an hour job to a five minute job; plus the waiting.
The biggest thing about fixing that pump was knowing that I figured out the issue and fixed it on my own. It was knowing, I can’t climb on a roof to put up shingles but I can replace a dishwasher pump.
Going back to the Fourth of July, I admit that it’s my fault the skies opened up and had people running inside for cover at around 10:30. Just as I was thinking, I wish these knuckleheads would stop shooting… God opened up the floodgates. It was a rough night for everyone including their cats and dogs.
After the holiday, it’s been reported that two NFL players have lost fingers due to firework related injuries. And that is how you mess up a multi-million dollar investment.
It serves as a friendly reminder to be safe during the Fourth. Roman Candles are awesome, but there’s always a chance they can mess you up for life.
I’m not completely hating on fireworks, because of what they mean for Independence Day, besides some of them are cool, like the M80. I have no idea if those are legal but they were fun when I was younger.
