Barn Dance packs them in
The barn dance in the evening at Ed Downing's ranch was well attended, there being about 50 couples present and to say the least it was a grand affair and all had a fine time until about 4 o'clock in the morning, when all departed for their homes. The crowd was loud in its praise of the fine music furnished by the Southwick Orchestra. Several from Malta and Black Coulee were present at the dance.
May purchase site
A large number of the businessmen of Malta met with the County Commissioners last Tuesday evening to talk over the possibility of buying a site for a court house. There is a very choice site that can be purchased at this time at a very reasonable figure and those present thought it a good plan to secure the tract of land at this time when it can be purchased cheap, and thus save the county several thousand dollars.

Now you can buy your liquor without a permit
Those four-bit permits became torn up pieces of paper in Montana July 15.
No longer are they necessary to make purchase at the state liquor store.
The 1965 legislature gave them the axe and the and the law became effective July 1.
Liquor store customers resented and were annoyed by the requirement that they must have permits to purchase hangover. Oops, pardon. Customers growled at having to pay for the right to purchase liquor, wines and other bottled goods.
Many customers did not purchase a permit over the years but got by by mumbling a number. Others borrowed permits from friends.

Malta native tries her hand before, behind cameras
Sally Demarais, Malta native, was featured in a recent edition of the Eastern Montana News Quarterly.
Demarais, who graduated from Eastern in the spring with a degree in mass communication, underwent a practical but adventuress experience as an intern spring quarter at TV 21, a local cable channel which emphasizes educational programming.
The work apparently paid off. Demarais won first place in a Channel 21-sponsored homemade video contest with the theme of "ethnic expression."
