CCC enrollees make contribution to Red Cross Fund
Malta's CCC enrollees helped swell the total of Phillips County's contribution to the National Red Cross Fund for European refugee relief this week, reports Capt. Leland Miller, company commander.
Out of their slender wages the boys donated a total of $8.71, Miller said. One boy had two cents in cash coming his way after he paid off his canteen and other obligations. He split his hoard with the Red Cross and gave a nickel.
The collection was taken in response to a general appeal to CCC organizations, the appeal coming from the regional headquarters in Missoula.

Kid' Foster KO's 'Cat' Dubray
Like a concert pianist who catches mistakes that the audience misses, Todd "Kid" Foster downplayed his third round knockout of Felix "The Cat" DuBray before an estimated 2,500 partisan fans who saw nothing at all wrong with the kid's performance.
"I wasn't quite in sync," Foster told television and newspaper reporters after the fight.
Foster claimed that he wasn't quite focused for the main event which was scheduled to go 10 rounds and almost ended in the first when Foster put DuBray down on the canvas for an eight count.
"I was surprised he got up, it was a good shot," Foster said of that first knockdown.
...Dubray (went) down a second time at the 2:13 mark of the third round ...(the fight ended in the third with Foster winning by TKO.)

Last leg of fence done at H.G. Robinson House
Since 2002, Lin Brezina has travelled to Malta from Fairfield, California, each July to build the wrought iron fence at the H.G. Robinson House and Garden.
With the help of the Malta Dirt Daubers Garden Club and Randy's Machine Shop, the fence was built in stages.
This summer the fence was completed, except for the front gate which Randy Shores is building.
The eight hundred foot fence with three gates was hand-built in the same way it would have been constructed in the early 1900s, each piece was cut and welded in place.
