Filing date for City Council positions approaches

Candidates wishing to file for City Council Board seats have until the close of filing at 5 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2015. Any person wishing to file for office who is a registered voter in Phillips County and resides within the city limits and ward, may obtain the required forms and fee information from the Election Office located in the Courthouse at 314 South 2nd Avenue West or by calling 406-654-2423.

Malta, Dodson and Saco each have two positions open on their councils.

Candidates that have filed for office are: Malta Ward 1 - Warren OJ Abrahamson; Saco - Bill Haynes (incumbent); Dodson – Cathy Bear (incumbent), Polly Solberg (incumbent) and Randy Dolphay.

The elections for City Council members is the non-partisan sort. A primary election – if needed – will be held on September 15, the deadline for write-in candidates for the General Election is October 8 and the General Election will be held on November 3.

The incumbent council members for Dodson, Malta and Saco are:

Dodson: Cathy Bear and Pernal “Polly” Solberg.

Malta: William James Crowder, Ward I and Warren OJ Abrahamson, Ward II.

Saco: Bill Haynes and Christopher Pippen.
