One Nation, Under God
The Kiwanis and Dirt Daubers assisted 3 groups at the Boys & Girls Club on Thursday, June 4 make arrangements for the Dirt Dauber Standard Flower Show. There was a K-2 group, 3rd - 5th and 6th through 9th. Everyone had a choice of using fruits & vegetables depicting "Life on the Prairie", gold nugget items on "Mining for Gold" or old car parts for "Racing into the Future". Each child could enter 2 arrangements. Pictured right.
Madelyn Anderson has been entering flower shows since 1963. She was also a Master Judge for several years and would travel anywhere in the U.S. to fairs and flower shows. She remembered one State Fair in Douglas,Wy that took from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm to judge. Usually she could start driving home to Malta after an event but with that one she stayed over, exhausted. One tip Madelyn gave to help open up a tightly closed flower was to put them in warm water. They like the warm water. Congratulations to Madelyn Anderson on a job well done! Picture below.
