One Nation, Under God
In the coming week, lets say Thursday or Friday-ish, if you happen to see a vehicle or two driving through our fair county with a 4 on the license plate, don't fear, hippies aren't invading.
That car with that license plate is most likely my wife's parents -- my in-laws -- and they are making the almost seven hour trek to Malta later this week at the exact time as we depart for our trip to SoCal. They are coming to town to help us out while we are gone and will be taking care of Stella the Spoiled Chihuahua and Steve, the Hairy Jerk (formerly Felix of Feline Fame.) I don't know how my wife convinced my in-laws to make the trip across the state of Montana all in an effort to ensure that our vacation is a pleasant one, but I am very thankful at any rate. If it weren't for the mother and father-in-law the chore would have most likely fell in the lap of Pierre Bibbs -- sports editor extraordinaire. He will be the editor-in-chief the week I am gone. Having to deal with my animals, his one-year-old boy P.J. and his new pup, Brucey, added to the 60-hour work week he has ahead of him would have resulted in an exploding cranium for Bibbs so I am glad the load was lightened a little.
If you have stories to submit to the Phillips County News, but for whatever reason haven't gotten around to sending it in, do so this week, Pierre would surely appreciate it.
As for the in-laws coming to Malta, take care of them for me, dear reader, as they are far from home and have only been to Phillips County once. If you see them driving around the county -- remember, don't fear the four -- say "howdy" ask them if they are lost (because they probably are) and tell them what a nice guy I am and what a great job I am doing here (yes, I am asking you to lie.)
I will be back in a week -- though you will barely miss me as I will pen next week's column before I depart for the Golden State -- and I already miss home (though not enough to forgo my vacation.)
Be well to each other, don't get in any fights on Facebook -- you know who you are -- and enjoy this action packed weekend in Phillips County.
Thanks for reading and Aloha.
