Malta Elementary gives out awards

At an assembly on Thursday, May 28th, academic awards were presented to 39 Malta Elementary School students. These awards are the BUG awards, a program sponsored by the Malta Kiwanis Club to encourage 4th and 5th grade students to Bring Up Grades. Fifth grade students receiving awards were Gavin Benge, Austin Burke, Eion Estill, Emma Harms, Trinity Henry, Aidan Kaasa, Justine Lamb, Oren Mackey, Darrow Messerly, Kevin Missildine, Ashlyn Morser, David Pitman, Madison Mae Rich, Cash Salsbery, Lexis Schipman, Taylor Score, Jackson Snell, Shane Soul, Dominick Wegner, Zach Welch, LaVida White, Makiya Wilke, and Caroline Wright. They are shown in the picture with Kiwanis members Jim Brady and Rosemary Veseth. Fourth grade students receiving awards were Addy Anderson, Madyson Bain, Kaden Bishop, Madelyn Crasco, Wyatt Dunbar, Jared Eggebrecht, Brylee French, Isabelle Hallenberg, Wyatt Judd, Kennedy Koss, Camryn Mears, Kirsta Meisdalen, Kylee Nelson, Tia Siewing, Lane Thompson and Madison Williamson.

Each student was presented with a framable certificate and a coupon for a free smoothie from 3 Sisters.

In addition to the quarterly honors, awards were given for those students earning BUG honors throughout the school year. Fifth grade students earning all-year certificates and a free BUG t-shirt from Sew Sassy are: Eion Estill, Emma Harms, Trinity Henry, Oren Mackey, and Taylor Score. Fourth grade all-year BUG winners are: Addy Anderson, Madyson Bain, Jared Eggebrecht, Brylee French, Kennedy Koss, Kirsta Meisdalen, Kylee Nelson, Tia Siewing, and Lane Thompson. Malta Elementary and the Malta Kiwanis Club congratulate these students and their parents on the fine accomplishment. We also thank 3 Sisters and Sew Sassy for their participation.

Presidential Awards

Malta Elementary is proud to announce the winners of the 2014-2015 Presidential Awards. The purpose of these awards is to recognize academic success in the classroom. The award is based on above average grades for 4th and 5th grades, standardized test scores, and teacher recommendations. Those receiving the Presidential Gold Award for Educational Excellence are: Malachi Davis, Eion Estill, Anna Harms, Oren Mackey, Kevin Missildine, and Porter Wright. This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, in partnership with the National Association of Elementary School Principals. The awards include a certificate signed by President Barak Obama, the Secretary of Education, and Mr. Tad Schye, the Elementary Principal. We commend all these students on their academic progress.
