One Nation, Under God
Lady Panther Bailey Funk had a big day at the District 3C meet in Glasgow last week. The freshman qualified for the Eastern Divisional meet in Glasgow tomorrow in four events including winning the triple jump with a length of 28 feet, six inches.
"I don't know how I did it, I only did two jumps," Funk said. "The other was a 29-02, definitely not my best."
Her best triple jump was a 31-07.50, which she had posted in Glasgow at the North-East Top Ten meet a few weeks ago.
Shin splints have run rampant throughout Saco's squad and Funk is fighting through the pain.
"I just gotta keep going," Funk said.
She soldiered on and took second in the long jump with a leap of 12-11.
Funk also took second in pole vault after clearing 8-00 and fourth in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 14 seconds.
Challise Young also qualified in the triple jump with a length of 15-9.
Young was struggling with the boards earlier in the season.
"When I first started jumping, I did not know which board was the eight foot board and which was the twelve foot board, but now I got it," Young said. "I'm more confident and hopefully I can get to state.
