Robert E. Azure, 85, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes. At Bob's request, cremation has taken place, and the family will hold a celebration of life later this year. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Bob was born on May 23, 1929, in Zortman to Peter and Mary (Lavadure) Azure, and was raised in Zortman until his late teens. He went to work in the mines in Butte, and worked there until 1951, when he joined the US Army. Bob served in the Korean War until 1953, when he transferred to the Army Reserves, serving until 1958. He married Veta Simmons in December of 1967, and the couple lived in Tillamook, OR, for many years. While there, Bob worked in plywood mills and managed a large cattle ranch. He and Veta also owned a Tavern in Netarts, OR. The couple moved to Montana after their retirement, and Bob lost his beloved wife Veta in 1999.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and teasing those he cared for; and he loved spending time with his family and many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Veta Azure; his parents Pete and Mary Azure; his brother Sandy Azure; and his sisters Ethel Kinkaid and Bernice Azure.
He is survived by his brothers Phil and David (Patsy) Azure of Vancouver, WA, Floyd (Carol) Azure of Zortman, and Maynard (Gail) Azure of Spokane, WA; his sisters Cora Kelsey of Malta, Amelia Rasmussen of Zortman, and Della Azure of Pendleton, OR; his aunt Meda Larson of Squim, WA; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family and friends.
