One Nation, Under God
David Jaynes and Trevor Banyai represented the Dodson Coyotes at the Porcupine Invitational hosted by Nashua at Glasgow High School last Friday.
Jaynes posted a time of 62.84 seconds in the 400 meter dash. It was his first attempt at the event.
"It feels pretty good to have a decent time and it gives me something to improve on," Jaynes said.
He hopes to get his time under one minute before the end of the season.
"I gotta practice and build up my leg muscles more," Jaynes said.
Jaynes also had a throw of 64 feet, 10 inches in discus, which is his new personal best. He recorded a throw of 29-04 in shot put.
"It was a mediocre day," Jaynes said of his shut put throw. "It's not my best but wasn't my worst. I just gotta keep on practicing."
Senior Trevor Banyai sustained an injury prior to the meet which won't allow him to participate in throwing events, however Banyai would do the jumping events.
"I'm just going to set up my first mark for today and try to beat it every other meet," Banyai said not knowing what distances he could jump.
Banyai cleared 4-10 in the high jump and recorded a leap of 13-07 in long jump.
The Coyotes are scheduled to attend the Jean Dreikosen Memorial hosted by Hinsdale at Glasgow High this Friday and then the Golden Eagle Invitational on Saturday in Lewistown.
