Headline: Some game
The business men, clerks and would-be ball tossers of 5th Avenue had the nerve and gall to issue a challenge to the professional men and ball players of 6th Avenue to meet them on the diamond Sunday, May 2nd in the great American game to go to make the support of the ball team here this summer. It is enough to make the angels weep to think that a bunch from the Avenue would entertain the idea for a second that they could get away with anything. They are to be pitied and should have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community and their obituary will appear in these columns after the game.
The boys from the 6th Avenue are also entitled to sympathy as none of them are in training for a marathon race and likely run themselves to death going the rounds of the bag.
