PC 4-H Program receives grant NW Farm Credit Services

The Phillips County 4-H program received a $1,500.00 grant from Northwest Farm Credit Services (NWFCS). The 4-H program applied for the Rural Community Grant in October with the help of Vicki Eggebrecht, 4-H leader, 4-H Council Treasurer and a NWFCS local advisory committee member. NWFCS is committed to improving rural communities throughout the Northwest. Through the Rural Community Grant program, NWFCS provides funds for efforts such as building and improving facilities, purchasing necessary equipment to facilitate programs and funding of capital improvements.

The 4-H Council applied for the grant to upgrade its fairground facilities, mainly new aluminum bleachers for the barn area activities and picnic tables for the concession stand. The 4H Council elected to purchase three tables with hopes of eventually replacing all of the wooden tables at the concession stand. The 4-H Council also purchased two aluminum bleachers, with the PC Fair Board purchasing two additional aluminum bleachers, for the livestock shows at the barn area. This was done to replace the older wooden bleachers and to better accommodate the many supporters of the 4-H kids.

Cole Hinnaland, Credit Officer with the Glasgow office of NWFCS presented the grant award to Ann Shettel, Phillips County 4-H program assistant. The PC 4-H program greatly appreciates the grant and the support of Northwest Farm Credit Services and looks forward to having the picnic tables in the concession area and the bleaches in the barn area for the 100th Phillips County Fair.
