Headline: Sheriff Busy
Sheriff Al Shaw and his deputies have been very busy the past few days rounding up a bunch of fellows who are charged with different crimes and who will be given a hearing in the near future. The chances are that it will be one of the largest cases that will be in Phillips County for some time and the Enterprise will have more to say on the subject later, as we do not care in any way to say anything that might influence a party called to serve as a juror. Following are the names of those arrested: Joe Alfred and William Doney, Ed Armstrong and Albert DuBois, charged with cattle rustling and Henry Moran and Matt Azure, who are charged with horse stealing. With the exception of Ed Armstrong and Albert DuBois, they have been taken to the jails in Glasgow and Chinook. Dubois is out on bonds and Armstrong is confined in the jail at this place.
Headline: Broke leg second time
Jack Gillian, who last fall had the misfortune to break a leg when his team ran away, was just regaining the usual use of the injured limb when he was so unfortunate as to break his leg again in the same place. Last week he stepped into a badger hole which caused the new injury. Mr. and Mrs. Gillian came to Dodson this week where he could receive medical treatment regularly.
Additional Locals:
Representative Sullivan's bill, legalizing Sunday dancing, was among those signed by Governor Stewart. It has a stormy journey through the legislature, but eventually won out.
Ground was broken this week for the basement of the new Edwards & McLellan block on Fifth Ave. The contracts have all been let and work will be rushed to an early competition. The small house that stood where the new block is to stand has been moved further east and now faces Cosner Street.

Street talk: Question: If Phillips County stands to lose $700,000 in property taxes from natural gas production, do you feel Governor Stephens should call a special session of the Legislature to correct an unintended exemption for stripper wells?
Ross Simser: "Yes, because it was an unintentional mistake."
Sandy Pray: "I think the fellows who wrote it in the first place weren't paying attention to their jobs!"
Robert Walsh: "Definitely! I don't think the community should let the Legislature get away with it. They should make them straighten it out without pay."
Helen Soper: "Definitely, because it's for education and being a teacher, I feel it is critical for the children and for their future."

Headline: Man starts second career following life-long dream of being an artist
Although he remembers drawing at the early age of seven, Don Shortman, one of 15 children in his family on the Fort Belknap Reservation, also remembers having to go to work at an early age to help support his family – putting his artwork on the back burner.
His new career is off to a good start. Shortman swept all the top prizes in the 2002 Mid Winter Fair at Fort Belknap including Best of Show and People's Choice.
