One Nation, Under God
The Malta Mustangs will open the 2015 Northern Divisional Tournament in Shelby by taking on the Shelby Coyotes who are the third seed from district 1B.
The Wolves are 13-8 this year, but they shouldn’t be underestimated after defeating Rocky Boy who is unpredictable and dangerous.
The winner of this game will face the winner of the Choteau and Plentywood game.
Choteau is undefeated so far this year.
The Bulldogs have won most of their games by over twenty points all year, which poses a tough challenge for Malta in the event these teams meet up.
Glasgow, who defeated Malta last week, could skate to the championship game having Rocky Boy, Harlem and Fairfield on their side of the bracket.
The Mustangs have been working hard in practice all week in hopes of ironing out their offensive and defensive struggles.
“Practices are going pretty good,” Jeremy Costin said. “We’re playing some good basketball. We’re just getting ready to play Shelby and hopefully win.”
When the Mustangs can run their offense, they generate points in bunches, but often times a sense of urgency has come back to bite the team.
“We gotta really play some good defense and gotta be patient on offense, that’s really the two big keys for us,” Jeremy said.”
Tip off against Shelby is at 2 p.m. on Thursday.
All-session Tickets are $22 per adult and $17 per student.
Individual tickets $7 per adult and $5 per student.
Tickets can be purchased at Malta High School today until 4 p.m. and can otherwise be purchased at the event.
