One Nation, Under God
Laura Kay Bergren, 57, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend spent her last day on earth February 23, 2015 with family by her side at the Hospice House in Lewistown as she lost her battle to cancer. The angels above were in need of a gentle soul and had made a place for her in heaven. Even though she left us all too soon we know she is healthy, has no pain, and has eternal life.
Laura was born December 8, 1957, the daughter of Robert and Anna Mae Lucht of Malta. Laura attended Malta public schools and graduated with the Class of 1976. After graduation, Laura married Chuck Zanto on July 25, 1976. They had two beautiful children, Alicia Mae and Darin James. They enjoyed trips to Nelson to go boating with family and friends, and loved camping in the mountains, or at any lake. Laura enjoyed cross-stitching, playing the guitar and piano, poetry, reading books, staying in touch with her faith for God and listening to music. This lead Laura to work at the radio stations in Malta and Lewistown. She met her current husband, Ken Bergren while working at KXLO / KLCM in Lewistown. Laura and Ken were married on August 7, 1999.
Laura's greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Laura loved watching her daughter, Alicia, play basketball, and swim, and was a strong supporter of the Fergus Eagles. She enjoyed watching her son, Darin, play football, and was proud of his accomplishments with his construction business and the homes he built. Laura had a big heart and was always willing to listen to whoever needed it. She loved to send cards for all different occasions to family and friends as she enjoyed letting someone know she was thinking about them and that was special to her. Beloved CeCe, her pet dog loved her very much. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart and they admired her strength, faith, and courage. Heaven gained a perfect angel.
Her memory is celebrated by her husband, Ken Bergren of Lewistown; her daughter, Alicia Mae (Chuck) Carter of Superior; son, Darin James (Emily) Zanto of Billings; her siblings, Gordon (Susan) Lucht of Jamestown ND, Bonnie McMullen of Whitewater, and Bobbie (Roger) Beyer of Laurel; two granddaughters, Sicily Mae Carter and Peyton Ella Zanto; along with all her nieces, nephews, cousins and one surviving aunt.
She joins in heaven her mother and father Anna Mae and Robert Lucht, her grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Visitation took place on Friday, February 27, 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Creel Funeral Home Chapel. We celebrated Laura's going home on Saturday, February 28, 10:00 a.m. at Celebration Community Fellowship located at 361 W Frontage Rd in Lewistown. Interment followed at the Malta Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
