Still unbeaten, M-ettes Decimate Rocky Boy and Roundup

The Malta M-ettes continued their dominance last week defeating Rocky Boy 62-34 in Rocky Boy last Friday and then Roundup 41-21 on Saturday night in Malta.

Senior Markelle Lett and sophomore Sophia Stiles led the charge for the M-ettes, both players scored 10 points.

Lett posted a double-double with 10 rebounds, 3 steals and two assists. Lett knocked down two treys.

Stiles had eight steals, seven rebounds and two assists.

Marley Manoukian had eight points. Hailey Nicholson and Rebecca Smith both had six points a piece. Adrianna Bibeau scored one point.

Malta’s twenty steals were huge against the Lady Panthers, who gave Malta a run for their money the first time the team’s met.

The Panther’s turned the ball over 29 times in the game, while Malta only coughed it up 14 times. Malta turned their forced turnovers into 19 points, while Roundup only scored four off of turnovers.

The M-ettes’ 62-34 win over Rocky Boy showed that the team’s first blowout win was no fluke.

Stiles led the team scoring 15 points, notching up five rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Manoukian had 13 points, five steals, six rebounds and three assists.

Hailey Nicholson had 10 points, five steals and four rebounds.

Darby Schye scored six points. Rebecca Smith, Jada Nicholson and Kaitlyn Smith scored four points a piece. Kelsey Kuehn, Lett and Bibeau added two points a piece.

Malta won the game by controlling the boards and limited Rocky Boy to just 10 field goals made out of 44 attempts (22 percent).

Malta out-rebounded Rocky Boy 35-26.

Malta scored 14 points off of turnovers and only gave up five off their own turnovers.

Malta has been playing every player on their team, which will help the team as they make a run at the State B title.

The team has to face a couple of 2B teams this weekend.

The first team they will face will be the Harlem Wildcats on Malta’s Senior Night.

The team will be honoring four seniors that night including: Markelle Lett, Kelsey Kuehn, Rebecca Smith and Darby Schye.
