The Dodson Lady Coyotes were everything they needed and more against the Nashua Lady Porcupines.
From out of the gate the team took the lead and never looked back. They won 65-49.
They did lose their first game of the 2015 calender year against the Turner Tornadoes, but the fact that they beat Nashua and their pressure defense was impressive.
Senior Janessa Henry was all over the court and led the team with 25 points. She was also 7 of 10 from the free throw line.
"It feels amazing," Janessa Henry told the PCN. "I've been waiting all season for this."
Henry got into some early foul trouble, racking up three fouls in the first half. but she didn't register another foul the rest of the night.
"I was just thinking I gotta keep my hands out, don't reach because that's what I like to do. I played with my mind and not with my hands," she said.
Eighth grader Shontelle Talks Different scored 17 points in the win.
Talks Different has not only shown she can play the post position, but she can also accurately shoot the long ball, hitting two treys in the game.
The team played tough and physical, which got into the heads of Nasha, so much so that one player, Taylor Luarameyer left the court in tears after taking a hard foul from Wozek Chandler in the second quaerter.
"We wanted to show what we could do and play our game," Shontelle Talks Different said.
Senior Jenessa Talks Different added 11 points and was 4 of 4 from the charity stripe.
Senior Jacina scored eight points off of the bench and added some much needed height in the paint.
Nashua was lead by Taylor Laumeyer and ChyAnn Clampitt, who scored 10 points a piece.
Laumeyer sank two treys in the game.
Tasha and Ziggy Chamberlain added nine points a piece.
In the team's 61-48 loss to Turner, Dodson was led by Henry who had 16 points.
Shontelle Talks Different had 15 points.
Jenessa Talks Different added 12 points.
Jacina Doney added four points and Shawnee KillEagle had one point.
Dodson is set to take on the Opheim Vikings on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
