One Nation, Under God

Mountain Dew

It has finally happened!

My beloved Bears have fired their 2014 coaching staff after a subpar season...

And their General Manager.

Maybe the owners of the team will make it their New Year’s resolution to actually give a poop about who is running the team.

God bless them for it.

I have a love hate relationship with resolutions.

In 2010, I have pledged not to drink pop, minus club sodaor ginger beer for ten years.

That ban is scheduled to be lifted on the year 2020.

But looking back to when I was hooked on Mountain Dew, I feel better today than I did back then.

I would bet that if I had consumed Mountain Dew since 2010, I would be a lot heavier than I am now, I wouldn’t be able to wake up without caffeine and I would probably have diabetes.

Being that my job requires more desk work than I am used to, I know that I have to consume less food than I did in the past because my metabolism isn’t as good as it was.

That’s the main reason that this year I plan to eat more foliage and vegetables.

I also pledge to not eat as many burgers in 2015 as I did in my previous two years...

Apparently in order to burn off some of the higher calorie burgers, you need to spend a few hours in the gym.

Another one of my favorite things to eat is pizza.

I used to hat thin crust pizza...

In 2014, I made an unofficial goal to eat more thin crust pizzas than thick crust.. That may be the only reason I haven’t cracked 300 pounds.

Simply put, this year I plan on being in better shape than I was.

That means my favorite burger joints in town are going off the speed dial and I am filling my deep freezer with veggies.

2015 will also be my first full year as a daddy.

Only being a father for a half a year, I gotta say it’s been better than I thought it would be.

There have been many nights of interrupted sleep, many days full of tears from our son and I’ve changed a diaper or two, but I love being a dad.

I’m not going to lie, I can’t wait til PJ can feed and change himself, but I am glad I have had the courage to help with the babe.

I did try to feed PJ baby food for the first times over winter break and though he sprayed himself with food, I didn’t get hit by a single drop.

I’m really optimistic that 2015 will be a great year for our little family.

Seeing how fast our son is developing has been an encouragement.

I want to say thanks to everyone who has helped us throughout 2014.

Whether it was a kind word or deed, Susan, PJ and I are grateful.

2014 rocked, looking forward to an even better year in 2015.

*Update*

This year is off to roaring start, I’ve already consumed one flame-thrower compliments of the Malta Dairy Queen.

Also, PJ now talks to himself in the mirror, which is something his father still does....

Don’t judge me cause I’m beautiful.
