One Nation, Under God
A group of nine Phillips County residents met December 10 at the Phillips County Library and voted to create the Phillips County Farm Bureau. Farm Bureau members living in Phillips County had been members of Farm Bureaus in surrounding counties. Tom DePuydt, a rancher from Saco and District 7 Director of the Montana Farm Bureau, will serve as president with Terri Robinson as secretary. The group adopted a Constitution and By-Laws during the meeting.
“Phillips County has many Farm Bureau members,” noted DePuydt, who signed the county agreement. “Having a local chapter will allow members to participate in the grassroots effort of Farm Bureau and work on issues affecting Phillips County. We hope to engage our youth with a strong understanding and importance of agriculture, and promote the next generation’s agricultural endeavors.”
County Farm Bureaus are a part of the Montana Farm Bureau, which has 21,000 member families and is based out of Bozeman. MFBF is an independent, non-governmental, non-partisan voluntary organization with its roots in agriculture. Farm Bureau provides an organization where members may secure the benefits of united efforts in a way that could never be accomplished through individual effort. MFBF is the state’s largest agriculture organization and advocate for Montana agriculture.
