One Nation, Under God
The Red Ribbon Campaign® is now the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of young people during Red Ribbon Week®, celebrated during the last full week of October each year.
The Red Ribbon Campaign® was started when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered DEA agent Kiki Camarena in 1985. This began the continuing tradition of displaying Red Ribbons as a symbol of intolerance towards the use of drugs. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign® is to present a unified and visible commitment towards the creation of a DRUG - FREE AMERICA.
Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives.
The Malta High School Youth Coalition is busy this week with Clash of the Classes Red Ribbon Week Jeopardy at both Malta High School and Whitewater Jr.-Sr. High School. Mc Gruff the Crime Dog will be visiting the Whitewater Elementary classes with his presentation of Mc Gruff and Drug Free Kids, this Wednesday.
Show your support of Drug Free Youth – take a visible stand and wear your red ribbon this week!
