HAYS- Charles G. Barrows a retired truck driver died at his home of natural causes on September 24, 2014.
A gathering of friends was held on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at St. Paul's Mission Recreation Center in Hays. Burial with military honors were on Saturday Sept. 27 in the Werk Family Cemetery in Hays. Condolences for the family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.
Charles G. Barrows was born February 10, 1934 at Fort Belknap, the son of Charles and Evelyn W. (Adams) Barrows. He was a Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1955.
He was a truck driver for over 35 years all over the U.S. and worked as a miner in the Butte Mines in the early 1950's, and a ranch hand on several ranches.
He met and married Mary Ann Boyle in 1956, in this marriage, they had two children, Charles and Eileen, and they later divorced.
On August 15, 1983, he met and fell in love with his wife, Wilma Werk and have been together ever since. Being the stud he is, they got lucky again and had two children, Raechelle and Robert. He held strong and waited to go so that he could be out in the crisp fall morning hunting and enjoying the beautiful fall colors.
He was also an avid Thunder Bird Basketball Fan clear to the end until he got sick and could no longer attend, but would listen to the games on KGVA.
He was a wonderful Grandpa to all his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Werk; sons Charles (Sharon) LaFleur and Robert Barrows; daughters: Eileen, Marcella (Justin) Doney, Misti (Frank) Weigum, Raechelle Barrows, and Sharon (Carter) Galey; God Child, Stevie Rose Werk .; 22 Grandchildren and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
