Sheila Noreen Askins, 71 of Meridian, Idaho, formerly of the Hobson and Zortman, Montana area died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in Meridian near her son Scott’s family.
Sheila was born in Anaconda, the daughter of Robert and Shirley (Murray) Scott. She was reared and educated in White Sulphur. She worked as a young woman at various jobs. She met Victor Askins in 1964 and they lived in the Buffalo area farming together. They had a son Scott. After divorcing, Sheila moved to Hobson to stay close to Scott until he graduated from high school. After his graduation she went to work doing road construction until being injured in an accident. After recovering she moved to Zortman and lived close to her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Rod Boland. While in Zortman, she was active in local activities, and volunteered for the 4th of July celebration’s, and raising money for the volunteer fire department, and the Lewis and Clark encampments. She also took care of a B.L.M camp ground near town until retirement. She just recently moved to Idaho to be near Scott and his family.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Wendy Askins, her grandsons, Austin of Guymon, Oklahoma and Keegan of Meridian, Idaho, her sisters and their husbands, Karen and Rod Boland of Zortman, Audrey and Don Meyers, sister Linda Lutton, brothers Jim-my Salois and Pete Salois, all of Portland, Oregon. And all her friends in Zortman. She was preceded in death by sister Sandy Parks.
Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Aug. 18, 2014 at Meridian Cemetery, Meridian, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 22nd at Creels Funeral Home in Lewistown, Montana. Condolences may be made at http://www.bowmanfuneral.com or http://www.creelfuneralhome.com
