Olive Hawkinson

Olive Hawkinson, age 90, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Louisville Care Center in Louisville, Nebraska.

She is survived by her five children, Joan (Vance) Spencer of Malta, Montana, Paul Hawkinson of Erhard, Minnesota, Joseph (Suzan) Hawkinson of Deerfield, Illinois, Faye Jorgenson of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Martha (Don) Gillespie of Papillion, Nebraska; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota.

Olive lived in Malta for two years with her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Vance Spencer.

Olive was born March 19, 1924 in Rosyth, Scotland to George and Edith Ratcliffe. The family moved to New York City when Olive was three years old. On January 31, 1943 she married Gordon Hawkinson. They moved to Luverne, MN in 1946 where all of their children were born and raised.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1979.

She was actively involved in her church and loved her Lord. Her children, grandchildren, friends and reading were among her favorite things. She also loved a good cup of tea!
