Johnson named Board Member at First State Bank

Martin "Marty" Johnson has been appointed by The First State Bank board to fill out the term that was brought about by the passing of Carrol Ereaux, who was a long time board member of The First State Bank of Malta.

Johnson, is also a current director of FSBanco Inc., of which he has been a member since 2008.

Johnson, has been part owner of CHMS since January of 2003 and a Certified Public Accountant of the company.

He is a current member of the Phillips County Hospital and Clinic board. He joined that board last October.

He is also a board member of Malta Opportunities Inc.

The Plentywood native has also been an active member of the Malta Athletic Club for over ten years.

He is a 1994 graduate of Montana State University Bozeman in Accounting.

He has since graduation, been working at CHMS, which makes him a 20 year veteran in the field.

He is married to Sandy, his wife of 23 years. Sandy is a part-time bookkeeper at Farmers and Ranchers a company on the north side of Malta.

The couple has two children, the oldest of which, son Matthew, who is an electrician for Spencer Electric in Malta and has been for two years.

Matthew is a 2012 graduate of Malta High and 2014 graduate of Montana State University-Northern in Havre. He graduated with a degree in Electrical Technology.

Meghan Johnson, the younger of the two, is a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Hi-Line Retirement Center in Malta and has been for two years. She is a 2014 graduate on Malta High, with aspirations to study nursing at Montana State University-Bozeman.

Marty Johnson joins members R. D. Scott (chairman), Michael Morrison, Bruce Hould, Frank White, Robert Galt, and F. Scott Robinson. The bank board appointed Johnson onto the board in their meeting last May.

"It's an honor and a privilege to help the community of Phillips County and being a part of the First State Bank board definitely helps in achieving that," Johnson told the PCN.
