One Nation, Under God
For as long as anyone can remember, May Day has also been Cleanup Day in Malta and this May is no exception. Volunteers will go about town, picking up trash and debris in an effort to our town looking fresh and clean as we head into spring.
Cleanup Day in Malta is scheduled for Thursday, May 1, at 4 p.m. – Depending on the weather. If the weather should not cooperate the event will be re-scheduled for the following Thursday.
The cleanup crews will meet at the Front Street Memorial Park across the Street from Radio Shack and Family Matters. In past Cleanup Days, the areas the crews have cleaned included the outside of local businesses, in parks as well as travel centers, according to Julianne Snedigar, Executive Director of the PhillCo Economic Growth Council and the Malta Chamber of Commerce.
Snedigar said that if anyone around town should notice an area that needs some sprucing up they can call her at 654-1776 or send her an e-mail at [email protected].
She said that the cleanup crew needs as many volunteers as possible and everyone is welcome to attend and assist.
“We just need people to show up and the weather to cooperate,” she said.
