One Nation, Under God
This year’s Phillips County News Easter Coloring Contest was another success with over 40 entries coming in from children aged 3-to-14. While the PCN staff had a tough time picking winners during the contest judging on Friday morning, after much deliberation the entries where narrowed down to nine contestants who earned a cash prize ranging from $15-to-$5.
The contest was broken down by age and sorted into three classes.
In Class One, Kayla Ottinger, four years old, took the first place prize, Tailynn Wilke, age four, took second and Savannah M. Harmon, age three, took third place.
In Class 2, Chloe Hofer, age seven, won first place, while Bohdi Brenden, age seven, took second and Treyton Wilke, also seven, took third place.
In Class 3, Brook Reed, age 11, took first place honors, Gavin Hofer, 11, took home second place honors and Andi Burwick, age eight, took third place.
This is the second year in a row in which Tailynn and Chloe have placed in the Easter Coloring contest.
The winning entries are decorating the walls of the PCN office and the winners will be notified by phone Wednesday morning. The judging was conducted by PCN staff members Mark Hebert, Pierre Bibbs and Debbie Solberg. To make sure that judging was unbiased, the names of the entrants were unknown to the judges until after judging was complete. The PCN would like to thank all the artists who submitted their artwork as it was a pleasure to have these pieces on our walls over the past month.
