Montana State Little Guy Wrestling Tournament April 12th Great Falls

Thirteen Malta wrestlers competed in the Montana State Little Guy Wrestling Tournament in Great Falls on April twelfth. Ten Grapplers were in the metals. Matt Sims, Jesse Schipman, Thayne Mackey, Jerry Benge and Pat Gibbs supplied the coaching staff. We had a great crowd attend to cheer on the crew. There were over 500 wrestlers from all over the state in attendance. We had some really tough matches and some great wrestling from all our weight classes. There were a few great surprises in our metal winners. Head Coach Matt Sims said ‘We had some kids really reach down and work hard, I got into a few heads and they really performed well.’

Attendees were; Kohner Schipman first, Straud Sims fourth , Henry Benge third, Clayton Hallenburg, Seth Sewing, Johnathan Siewing, Caron Ottinger fourth, Reese Brown third.

Spencer Gibbs first, Dre Oshio sixth, Gavin Benge fourth, Oren Mackey third, Kolter Schipman first.

The Malta Wrestlers will now start training for Grand Nationals this summer in June. We would like to thank the community for all the support they have given our wrestlers.

Note: Orin Mackey placed sixth at the Folk style wrestling Championship at Butte two weekends ago.
