The Malta Athletic Club Invitational was held at the Marian Hills Golf Course last Saturday.     October 4 saw the Dodson-Whitewater Harriers at the always tough Havre meet. Class A, B, and C schools were in attendance, giving the Harriers their first look at some of the western teams. For the men, Jeret Warren placed 11th with a time of 17.55. Jeret was 60 seconds behind a strong Browning athlete who claimed first, and was the first Class C male runner to cross the finish line.     The Malta M-ette Cross Country team took on the always windy course at the Havre Invitational Cross Country Meet last Saturday. They placed third as a team with 123 points. The overall winner of the Varsity girl's 3 mile race of 66 runners that took place at the campus of MSU-Northern was Josie Braaten of Glasgow who ran the hilly course in 19:28.     The overall winner of the girl's 3 mile race of 58 runners that took place on the flat Downstream Campground Nature Trail at Fort Peck last Saturday was Josie Braaten who ran the course in record time with 18:43.     The Dodson-Whitewater Harriers posted great success at the always competetive Glasgow meet which brings runners from Class A, B, and C, plus North Dakota.     The Dodson-Whitewater Harriers are back for their second year under their cooperative agreement, with a new coach Francine Stiffarm at the helm.     Last year the M-ettes Cross Country team got a boost. A boost by the name of Sophia Stiles. Stiles, a freshman last year is back and 11th year Coach Thea Solberg has no doubt that Stiles can repeat or improve her seventh place standing at state. Stiles' time in the three mile run was 19.49, in a race where time mattered.
