On Friday, October 14th, we attended the Harlem Invitational. It was a nice crisp morning with a little bit of a breeze, just the kind we like! After a hard week of practice, the girls were ready for their final regular season meet. This one really lets me know if they are ready for the state meet. We've been working on consistency the last three weeks and I was anxious that they would do well. The Harlem course is a very flat course to run, so we adjusted our splits accordingly. This is a...

The North Country Lady Mavericks Volleyball team bounced back last week defeating the Frazer Bearcubs on Thursday, October 6, and Brockton Warriors on Friday, October 7, both in three sets. “These two matches were geared towards staying focused when the play is erratic or slowed down compared to what we are used to playing,” Mavericks head Coach Charlene Wasson said. “We played our varsity lineups in the first two sets and had our JV lineup take the third set.” The Mavericks will have their h...
We attended the rescheduled Frazer race on Tuesday, October 4, and the Malta Invitational on Saturday, October 8. It was a full week for the girls. I ended up giving them Wednesday and Friday off for some extra rest days. They were feeling pretty heavy by Thursday. Both races had beautiful weather and great competition for the girls. There weren't as many runners as usual, but when you have Scobey and Glasgow at the meets it doesn't really matter. In Frazer, Samantha Wisher finished in 4th...
The Frazer Cross Country Meet had been previously scheduled for September 22, but had been postponed because of some much needed rain to the area and the results of that lovely rain event caused a very muddy area for running. But on Tuesday, October 4, the Malta Cross Country team traveled on a very beautiful fall day over to the area called Clark's Hill, just a few miles southwest of Frazer overlooking the beautiful Missouri River. Today's running course was dry and provided just the right...

We drove to Big Timber on the morning of Saturday, October 1, at 5 a.m.! It literally rained the entire drive there, and the entire drive home. I can’t complain because everyone needs it. I’m glad I checked the weather forecast and warned the girls to bring extra clothes because within 10 minutes of being at the course, we were all soaked from head to toe. The whole golf course was flooded. The girls ran through puddles and in the rain the entire race. They were actually pretty excited about it. There weren't as many runners there as I ant...
The Malta Mustangs Football team is now 4-1 after their 24-19 win over the Wolf Point Wolves on Friday, September 23, in Malta. At the conclusion of the game, the current Mustang football players took a photo with former Mustangs and future Mustangs to commemorate 100 years of Malta Mustang Football. The photograph was supposed to take place last week during Malta's Homecoming game against Shepherd, but the rain and lightning caused a delay that sent most fans home. The Mustangs will travel to...
