The 2015 Little Mustangs Basketball Camp hosted June 1-3 featured plenty of growth and enthusiasm amongst the young athletes that ranged from first to sixth grade. The Malta Swim Team is off to a great start this season after the team ended the third meet of their season. The Malta swimmers took ninth place at the Glasgow meet, which is impressive considering the team only had 15 at the meet. There were 269 swimmers present amongst 10 teams. Justinn Marshall represents Montana well, both inside and outside the arena Justinn spent the last week, in Casper, Wyoming, competing in the College National Finals Rodeo. She competed in goat tying. Her fastest time was in the second go, where she was 6.5 seconds, placing her 5th. While in Casper, Justinn was presented with a $2000 scholarship, by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Foundation. The scholarship was the "John J. Smith Graduate School Scholarship". The Malta Swim Team fared well in Eastern Federation Swim Meet, which they hosted, finishing third among teams present at the event. The team took second in relay events. If the first Havoc on the Hi-Line MMA event had one theme, it would be adversity. Many of the fights ended in comeback wins. The event which was held last Saturday at the Dodson Fairgrounds hosted a loud and enthusiastic crowd that was thoroughly entertained by twelve fighters. By Millie Kindle Due to unforeseen circumstances the AMX races last Saturday in Dodson turned into timed trials. Everyone had a good day at the races. There were 14 cars with 2 first time drivers, Gage Abrahamson of Malta and Keith Cowan of Turner. The first of the six Hi-Line Dragstrip racing events is now in the books. The racers hit the starting line last Saturday and Sunday for the first official Phillips County Motorsports event of the year. Malta Swim Team brought 29 swimmers to the first swim meet of the season in Harlem. The team placed second out of 12 competing teams. "All the swimmers swam very well, especially for only having 3 days in the water for practice," said PCN Correspondent Yvonne Garfield. The eighth season of Phillips County Motorsports kicks off this Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Hi-Line Dragstrip on Malta's Southside. The time trials start at 9 a.m. and end at noon. On Saturday, June 13, Rezorblade Productions will be hosting Havoc on the Hi-Line (Havoc) at the Dodson Fairgrounds. The Malta M-ettes had a great showing at the 2015 State B Track Meet in Kalispell, taking fourth as a team. Sophomore Sophia Stiles led the effort, not only retaining her triple jump crown, but taking first place in the long jump as well. The Whitewater Penguins competed in their last event as the Penguins at the 2015 State C Track meet in Laurel last Friday and Saturday. The team was led by Junior Tatum Moore, who took fifth place in the 100 meter hurdles after recording a time of 16.64 in the final round and 17.17 in prelims.
