    The Dodson-Whitewater Harriers had a great weekend placing first at the Hays Invitational at Mission Canyon last Friday. It was the first meet ever hosted by Hays. “Mission Canyon was a really nice course,” Harrier Coach Bruce Warren told the PCN. “It was an all uphill course through the canyon.     The North Country Mavericks defended the Whitewater High School gym with pride last Saturday as they smashed the Lustre Christian Lions in three sets. The scores were 25-18, 25-13 and 25-14. The team was led in kills by Mickayla Johnson, who had eight of the team's 20. Jada Sudbrack led in aces with eight. The team had 19 total.     The final race of the 2015 Phillips County Motor Sports, known as the Big Dollar Race, was well attended and finished the season on yet another high note for the 10-year old organization. On Saturday, the junior dragsters – Thunder for those ages 11 and below and Lightning for children 12-through-18 – and those looking to “test and tune” took to the speedway for a total of 125 racers on the day. The Malta Athletic Club Invitational was held at the Marian Hills Golf Course last Saturday.     In the Malta Mustang's home opener, it was supposed to be a clash of Mustangs as the team took on the Shepherd Mustangs last Friday in the team's Homecoming game. What really happened was a Shepherd beat-down as Malta won the game 28-0.     The Third Annual Nile Sanctioned Phillips County Ranch Rodeo is in the books. Eight ranches from near and a far participated in events identical to tasks they perform on a near daily basis.     Despite being a smoke filled weekend, 88 golfers from in and out of state showed up for the 2015 Marian Hills Open, held last weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Those golfers formed 22 teams that played in Montana's largest scramble payout to date. Teams had two chances to win their share of a grand prize of $5,000.     The Malta Mustangs surpassed all expectations last season in Head Coach Nick Oxarart's first season. The team not only made it to the post-season, the young Mustangs defeated the Roundup Panthers 20-17 in the first round.
