    The Dodson AMX Speedway hosted its first race of the 2016 season at the Phillips County Fair on Saturday, August 6. There were 10 super stock and 12 stock drivers present.     It's no longer a secret to all at last Saturday's Demolition Derby at the Phillips County Fair that Chinook's Garrett Powell is the area's top competitor. Powell is nearing the end of a pretty hot streak after his first top finish of 2016 in Billings last May. He went on to an event in Glasgow and won.     Last Sunday at the Phillips County Fair was a pretty special day for the Powell family of Chinook as Mike Powell won the AMX races in the afternoon and later Garrett Powell, Mike's son won the Demolition Derby that night.     The 2016 Phillips County Fair featured some solid bull and bronc riding last Sunday as the Milk River Challenge Rodeo came to Dodson. The rodeo featured 20 bull riders and 15 saddle bronc riders who gave their all for a crowd of around 1,000 spectators at the Dodson Fairgrounds Grandstands.     Each year for at least the past 15, the 4-H Horse Show at the Milk River Pavilion in Malta has been the unofficial start of the Phillips County Fair.     Carson and Kayla Ottinger were a couple of the few kids that traveled ninety miles west to Havre in order to participate in an NFL Play 60 Camp hosted by Chicago Bears wide receiver and former Havre High standout Marc Mariani.     Malta was host to 378 swimmers and their families and coaches this past week-end for the Montana Federation of Swimmer Eastern Divisional. In an event where only the top twelve individual swimmers qualified for the State Meet next weekend in Hamilton, The Malta Swim Team placed 26 of 28 possible. One of the more recent State Champions is ten-year-old Treyton Wilke, who in February won the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Divisional Meet in Havre.     Malta will be host of the 2016 Divisional Swim Meet for the Eastern Montana Federation of Swimmers. The meet will host eight teams and close to 300 swimmers.
