    It’s no secret the Malta Parks and Recreation has been busy trying to keep both adults and children more active throughout the week.     The Malta M-ettes volleyball team saw their season come to an end at the Northern B Tournament in Shelby last Friday after they lost their elimination game against the Cut Bank Wolves in four matches. Malta also lost to the Fairfield Eagles in the opening round. Choteau eventually won the Divisional Tournament by defeating Fairfield 3-1. Shelby won their third place match against Glasgow 3-0.     The North Country Mavericks 2016 campaign ended at the Eastern C Divisional last Friday, as the team fell to Jordan in the elimination round. The Mavericks also lost to Circle in the opening round of the tournament. In the team’s loss to Circle, the scores were 25-12, 25-12 and 25-9.     With four of five of District 2B teams moving on to the Northern B Divisionals in Shelby on Thursday after last weekend's District 2B Tournament in Malta, it is not surprising that Malta advanced to the next round but how they did it.     On Saturday, September 24, a former Malta standout Kirk Stiles was named to the Carroll College Hall of Fame. Stiles was a part of a Fighting Saints basketball team at Carroll that has now become legendary after their 26-6 record in the 2000-01 season, in which the team was also crowned the Frontier Conference Champions.
